This is why I post my set lists, as a reference for you to go the store and purchase the album or song. emusic.com, cdbaby.com and of course ebay and Amazon are all good sources for new music. Used CD stores will have a blues section for you, the library is a good reference too. When you get paid to DJ, go buy a new album (or pay off the credit card you've been using to purchase music . . usually what I have to do . . :)
In addition, nothing beats live music. Go out to live music as much as possible. I totally salute Portland for making a dance event out of already planned live music performances. To be a good DJ, you find music everywhere, especially from live performances in random places.

My DJ bio
Emily started out as a DJ in Seattle’s epic house-party scene in 2005. She was one of Burn Blue’s original DJs when the venue started and has continued to be a DJ coach for new aspiring DJs, as well as a regular DJ at many of the regular blues dance venues in Seattle. She loves traveling to dance events to hang with old friend and meet new friends, and has had the pleasure of being on staff for multiple events either as a DJ or co-organizer. Emily is a wife and a mother of 2 little princesses.

I started really getting into DJ stuff when I moved to Seattle in 2005. I was invited to be one of the first DJs at Burn Blue, and have been able to DJ at a few big events including:

The first event I ever attended was Phoenix Lindy Exchange 2004. I was introduced to blues, and I was hooked! My husband and I met while traveling for an event, and have traveled a lot together since. We married in 2006, had a child in 2009 and 2011, and are figuring out how to continue doing what we love while also starting our family. We've come to the conclusion that we have a few options: leave her at home with a family member, travel alone, or get a hotel room. Although I do expect for events that hire me to take care of ME, I do not expect them to also take care of Michael and the girls, so we're finding an affordable balance that works for us.
